I don't know if it's a Proboards problem or a plugin problem but we've used this plugin for a long time and now it's tripping on the new IP format. It's causing challenges for us because critically high spam countries are sneaking past the staff gatekeepers. For instance a new member today shows this IP: 2601:6c3:4200:6f50:7a:1 Both WMIP and SFS say this it's an invalid address. Just noting that both WMIP and SFS support IPV6 so the plugin should work seamlessly between IPV4 and IPV6 addresses. It is because the given IPV6 address [2601:6c3:4200:6f50:7a:1] in this situation erroneously contains only 6 instead of the required 8 hexadecimal groupings that is causing an invalid error. There is likely a double-colon missing somewhere in that address signifying where in that address the two missing groups were zero compressed. Without that double-colon showing from where they were removed, those missing zero groups cannot be reinserted to get back to the original 8 hexadecimal groups. I've unfortunately not encountered an IPV6 in forum operations in order to investigate further to see if there is something removing double-colons... |
